Michele - Office Manager

Region: North West

Department: Business Support

What's your role and how long have you worked for Bloor Homes?

My role is Office Manager at the North West Regional Office which I commenced April 2017.

Give us a snapshot of what your role entails?

A varied, exciting and motivating role dealing with a broad spectrum of departments and personnel from all levels. From supporting the HR and Recruitment teams, to making sure that the office runs smoothly, and everything in between! A real jack of all trade’s role!

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

I enjoy the variety and unpredictability in my day — it keeps things interesting and keeps me on my toes! I like the challenge of keeping everything on track, and as IT continues to improve across the company, I’m enjoying learning new things and keeping up with the changes.

Have you always held this position at Bloor?

My initial role with the company was with the Business Support team running Reception, and following a short time in this role, I was offered the role of Office Manager.

What would you say is the best thing about working for Bloor?

The people, the culture and Company values. It’s an impressive workplace where high standards are the norm.

What would you say to someone who is looking to join the team?

Do it! You can be part of the Company’s overall success.

Alex - Engineering Manager

Region: Midlands

Department: Technical

What's your role and how long have you worked for Bloor Homes?

I have worked for Bloor Homes for 8 years, starting as an Engineer before being promoted to Senior Engineer and now Engineering Manager.

Give us a snapshot of what your role entails?

I have a number of responsibilities from looking at feasibility sites to produce outline designs and tender packs, to managing a team of Engineers progressing sites through the detailed design and construction phases to completion and adoption of the infrastructure.

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

Predominantly the variety – although we follow pretty much the same processes each time, every site is different and presents a new range of challenges to overcome.

Have you always held this position at Bloor?

I began as an Engineer before being promoted to Senior Engineer and now Engineering Manager.

What would you say is the best thing about working for Bloor?

Knowing we genuinely build a quality product from start to finish. Our quality and customer satisfaction scores are testament to the hard work put in by all departments pulling together to achieve brilliant overall results.

What would you say to someone who is looking to join the team?

Bloor Homes is a good place to work – we have a great team of people supporting each other to ultimately produce a quality product that our customers appreciate.

Frank - Design and Planning Project Manager

Region: South West

Department: Design and Technical

What's your role and how long have you worked for Bloor Homes?

I have been in my current role as Design and Planning Project Manager for 7 years but have worked for Bloor Homes 13 years now.

Give us a snapshot of what your role entails?

My role entails managing the detailed design and planning process of our schemes, this includes the coordination of architects, engineers and other disciplines to ensure planning permissions are granted on time.

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

Part of my role allows me to directly influence the places where people live. I get to make a real difference and find it fulfilling seeing schemes come to life.

Have you always held this position at Bloor?

I have held a few positions at Bloor but they have all revolved around design and planning, evolving to facilitate the changing needs of the business and have come with good opportunities for growth.

What would you say is the best thing about working for Bloor?

I would say the best thing about working for Bloor is its family culture. It blends tradition with growth and thrives because of its people who genuinely care about their role in the business.

What would you say to someone who is looking to join the team?

If you are looking to join a collaborative team that is always eager to support each other then look no further, whether that be land, technical, commercial, construction or sales.

Rhianne - Commercial Manager

Region: East Midlands

Department: Commercial

What's your role and how long have you worked for Bloor Homes?

My current role is Commercial Manager for the East Midlands Region. I started my career with Bloor Homes back in 2019 as a Senior QS with the South Midlands Region before moving to East Midlands in 2021, and was promoted to Commercial Manager in 2022.

Give us a snapshot of what your role entails?

I’m responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the Department with a strong focus on deadlines and financial reporting. We are involved with the sites from land appraisal through to completion which keeps the work varied and allows the surveyors to have a full understanding of the project life cycle.

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

It sounds cliché, but I am fortunate to work with a great group of like-minded people. I enjoy seeing the younger members of the team develop and implementing processes to make complex work as straightforward as possible.

Have you always held this position at Bloor?

I was promoted from Senior Quantity Surveyor to Commercial Manager.

What would you say is the best thing about working for Bloor?

Being a privately owned company, there is still a good sense of community and freedom to carry out our work without overbearing restriction.

What would you say to someone who is looking to join the team?

Bloor Homes is a great company to work for. If you take pride in what you do, there are plenty of opportunities to progress your career and expand your industry knowledge.

Ross - Group Senior Surveyor

Region: Head Office

Department: Commercial

What's your role and how long have you worked for Bloor Homes?

I am Group Senior Surveyor based at the Head Office in Measham. I started in November 2006, so I’m approaching 19 years at the company.

Give us a snapshot of what your role entails?

I aid all the regional offices in the creation and maintenance of budgets and cost reports, which are collated and provided to the board weekly and monthly.

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

I enjoy the variety. I travel to all our offices and sites and work with various departments across the business.

Have you always held this position at Bloor?

I started as a Trainee and studied for a degree part-time while working, with all fees covered by Bloor.

What would you say is the best thing about working for Bloor?

Being privately owned, Bloor feels like one big team where long-term staff loyalty is common.

What would you say to someone who is looking to join the team?

Don’t hesitate. Hard work is recognised and rewarded here.

Stephanie - Sales Manager

Region: Exeter

Department: Sales

What's your role and how long have you worked for Bloor Homes?

I’m the Sales Manager and will have worked for Bloor Homes for 9 years this year.

Give us a snapshot of what your role entails?

My role involves supporting the Sales Advisors, driving sales and exchanges, price releases, show home launches and interior design.

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

I love working alongside the Sales Team and being part of their development.

Have you always held this position at Bloor?

I started as a Sales Advisor and progressed through to Sales Manager.

What would you say is the best thing about working for Bloor?

I’m genuinely proud to work for Bloor Homes. The company is built on integrity, quality, and honesty.
